Find the perfect category for your vision.
The Online Photo Club celebrates the full spectrum of photographic art by rotating through six primary categories each year. Understanding these categories is key to successfully submitting your work. Our most popular categories include Landscape & Nature, focusing on natural scenery and the environment; Portraiture & People, which highlights individuals, groups, or cultures; and Architecture & Cityscape, showcasing the built environment from urban giants to historic structures. Each category demands unique technical skills and creative interpretation, offering a fresh challenge every month for our members. Review the detailed descriptions below before preparing your submission for the current contest.
Beyond our primary divisions, we also feature specialized categories such as Wildlife & Animals, which focuses on creatures in their natural habitats; Abstract & Conceptual, rewarding creativity and non-literal visual storytelling; and Macro & Close-up, celebrating the intricate details of small subjects. While the core category is assigned monthly, judges look for artistic merit, technical proficiency, and adherence to the theme. Submissions that blend genres successfully often stand out. If you are unsure which category best fits your photo, consult the rules page for clarification or ask in the live chat for community feedback.
